 d- fashion is up for interpretation. 

i bought this "skirt" from one of my favorite vintage boutiques in la, new/found. they deemed it a skirt, but when i got home and tried it on i was positive it was a dress, at least for me. but every now and again i rock the skirt version. different interpretations.

b- i've been working on the new black and white trend at work and i can't get enough of it.  even though it is a classic, there is something that looks so new and fresh to me about it.  its so clean and modern yet bold all at the same time.

exotic florals

d- people are wearing floral patterns non-stop these days. i like that the floral patterns you're seeing is slightly less feminine and soft. hues are more vibrant and loud, making the feel more exotic in nature. the origin of my jacket's pattern stems from kenya.

b- i have nothing to say other than this is awesome grafitti.  dani and i found it driving around our neighborhood and i knew i'd be back.

power of pants

d- this month's american vogue had a beautiful spread spotlighting the power of pants. i guess those two words are synonymous: power+pants. you can't really get away from it since the origin of pants will forever be tied to the male sex. but its connotation can be softened a bit by giving a peek of skin, hair down to there, and a pink lip.

creative standby

d- pearls are like studs. they're standbys in the jewelry scene, so there is that tendency (at least for me) to want to be creative when you decide to rock the seemingly classic element. i rigged my long strand of faux pearls (can't wait to buy my first real strand) into a belt and fiiiiinally busted out a pearl encrusted collar-clip that blair gave me for my birthday. 

let's see how creative i can get next time.

ladies who dine

b- its an exciting day because today we are previewing some of the pieces from our new fall collection, ladies who dine.  in addition to recoloring some of our best sellers, we have added a few new delicate styles to the mix.  see if you can spot 'em.

i had no idea how much i would love the all black until i saw it in person.  once you go black you never go back.

last minute

d- there are two distinct routes i take when it comes to putting together a look for the blog: plan ahead or last minute decisions. today was a last minute scramble to get dressed. there's something about this route i really like. it's a challenge. i have one hour from the time i wake-up to when i'm out the door.  sometimes it's quick and easy and other times it's a struggle. i've found that a red lip/red heel combo is acts as a safety net. 

mix and match all you want, but the red duo ties it all together.
